Libraries have been around for thousands of years and have continually evolved to meet the needs of the world around it including the digital age we are in today. While libraries still carry the old features they have always had like copies of books and placed to sit and read them, they have a few new additions nowadays. All libraries now have many computers that are equipped with internet access and the latest programs so that library patrons may perform homework, work related tasks or just have fun. What I think is most exciting though, is that many libraries now are beginning to carry ebooks! Ebook such a kindles or nooks allow libraries to greatly increase the number of books they have on file. I always think it is a great way to encourage young people to read because they are so technologically wired. Another great thing about the digital age is that you do not always have to physically visit the library, to visit the library. If you have a computer with internet connection at home, you can view any library from their website. Libraries are also increasing their ecollection and many books can be downloaded online! Check out the ecollection that the San Diego Public Library offers https://www.sandiego.gov/public-library/catalog-databases
As time continues, I wonder what the libraries of the future will hold and offer its patrons!
